Our crew
When you come aboard one of the fish-tourism boats
that belongs to our cooperatives, you'll come into contact
with various different people who make up the ship's crew.
Let's take a look at who they are and what they do.
The
captain is responsible for everything that happens aboard
ship, coordinating the crew, deciding the times and places
for the fishing expedition and deciding on the work pace.
The engineer is instead responsible for the mechanical part:
he's the one in charge of the ship's engine, propulsion
system and on-board cooler.
The sailor is the one who handles
all the work that takes place on deck during a fishing expedition:
he drops and draws up the nets, baits the fishing lines,
and cleans and packs the fish. As a rule, one of the sailors
is also responsible for cooking on board.
And on larger
craft, there's also a first mate, who is responsible for
the fishing gear.
